Sponsor a Hero

After much thought, and honestly, with a little sadness, we’re making a change to a program that has meant so much to Military Missions and to the people who support our troops.

Adopt a Hero is becoming Sponsor a Hero.

We truly hate to make this change. For years, many of you have enjoyed choosing a Hero, shopping for items, and making a special care package for them. We know that personal connection has made this program especially meaningful.

Unfortunately, changes to the customs forms for individual packages now require expanded information. This has made the Adopt a Hero Shop & Ship process increasingly difficult for our volunteer team to manage. We have worked hard to standardize our care packages, including the items, descriptions and weights. These additional requirements have made it necessary for us to change the way the program works.

Introducing Sponsor a Hero — a simpler way to help us get care packages into the hands of deployed service members.

Choose how you’d like to help:

$15 — SHIP IT
Cover the cost of shipping one care package to a deployed Hero.

$20 — FILL IT
Cover the cost of the items that go into a care package.

$35 — SPONSOR IT
Cover the contents and shipping for one complete care package.

Your support will allow Military Missions to continue creating and sending standardized care packages while ensuring we can properly manage the customs and shipping requirements.

And just like before, your generosity can be personal. When you Sponsor a Hero, you can send us a card or letter to be included in the package. OR if you prefer we do it, your message will be hand-written on a card and placed in their package.

We know this isn’t exactly the way we’ve done it in the past, and we’re sorry to lose the Shop & Ship part of Adopt a Hero. But we’re grateful that we can find a way to keep the spirit of the program alive.

Because whether you Ship It, Fill It, or Sponsor It, you’re helping remind someone serving far from home that they are remembered and appreciated.

The name may be changing. The process may be changing. But the mission remains the same.
