Community Invited to “Welcome Home” Vietnam Veterans
WHAT: Military Missions is inviting the public to gather for a special “Welcome Home” celebration honoring Vietnam and Vietnam Era Veterans returning from an Honor Train Ride in recognition of National Vietnam War Veterans Day.
The event will mirror the powerful homecoming experiences often seen with Honor Flight returns, as veterans are greeted by a crowd of supporters waving flags and offering heartfelt thanks.
WHEN: Today, Sunday, March 29, 2026
Public arrival: 2:30 – 2:45 p.m. | Train arrival: Approximately 3:30 p.m.
WHERE: Bluegrass Railroad Museum | 175 Beasley Road | Versailles, KY
ABOUT THE EVENT: This community-wide effort offers a meaningful opportunity to recognize and honor Vietnam Veterans, many of whom did not receive a proper welcome home following their service. Organizers hope to welcome hundreds of attendees to create a powerful and emotional moment of appreciation, ensuring these veterans feel the gratitude of a supportive community. Community members are encouraged to bring American flags, signs, and their families to help create a memorable and patriotic atmosphere.
