One member of the fun Wednesday volunteer group is bubbly AmyShelton. Born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky, she is a graduate of Lafayette High School and the University of Kentucky (Go Cats!) where she was/is a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority.
Amy taught first and second grades for 30 years at Ashland Elementary and other Fayette County Public Elementary Schools. After retirement, she searched for volunteer opportunities and discovered the Military Missions booth at the summer Southland Street Fair. With several members of her family who served in the military, Military Missions seemed like the ideal place for her to volunteer.
Amy enjoys spending time with her son Marshall who lives near Nashville, Tennessee, and operates the sound system for the band 38Special. She was able to see him in action recently when the band performed at Renfro Valley. In addition to traveling, reading, gardening and cooking, Amy loves to entertain a multitude of friends.
